The Fundraising and Public Relations Division 

The Fundraising and Public Relations Division promotes accessibility to all information and services relevant to the blindness sector. The purpose of this Division is to ensure that the organisation has sufficient financial resources to fulfil its mission.

This division produces a variety of newsletters and publications available electronically, in print form, as well as in braille mediums. The division maintains Council’s website and does whatever it can to promote access to information, news and products for visually impaired consumers, service providers in the blindness sector, schools, employers, and the broader public which comprises many supporters, funding partners and donors.

Ways to Help us Fundraise

Personal Donation

Make a secure online donation. The SANCB is a registered PBO therefore donations are tax deductible, and received in terms of Section 18A of the Income Tax Act 58 of 1962.

Corporates, Trusts and Foundations

As a non profit organisation, the SANCB welcomes donations from companies, trusts and foundations to help us further our work.  Donations are tax deductible in terms of Section 18A of the Income Tax Act 58 of 1962.

Leaving a Legacy

When Rose Petals died naturally at the age of 95 she left a gift in her will to the SANCB.

Rose, who was formerly a receptionist was blinded by glaucoma at 45 and knew just how much her gift would mean to the community.

Get your eyes tested and contribute to SANCB

By purchasing a charity cloth at Spec-Savers SA, they will contribute on your behalf to a relevant charity. Spec-Savers has selected 5 charitable organisations that provide for a number of needs for South Africans. Each coloured cloth represents a different charity. Get your MySchool card

MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet is one of South Africa’s biggest fundraising programmes and allows you to support us by simply swiping your card each time you shop and best of all, it will not cost you any time or money!

Do this by simply applying for a free card today, and swipe your card at any of the partner stores. They will then give back a percentage of your purchase value, on your behalf, to the SA National Council for the Blind at no cost to you. You can also apply for your free MySchool/ MyVillage / MyPlanet card by contacting Bhavanisha Chanderparsadh on 012 452 3811 or via e-mail at Bhavanisha@sancb.org.za.  The SANCB will start receiving funds as soon as you start swiping your card.

If you already have a MySchool card, but would like to add us as a beneficiary, simply call the Client Service Centre on 0860 100 445 or e-mail cs@myschool.co.za – there is no need to get a new card!

SANCB’s Fundraising Gala Dinner

Honourable Adv Tshililo Michael Masutha (MP), Minister of Justice and Correctional Services initiated the co-hosting of a fundraising gala dinner in partnership with the South African National Council for the Blind in 2017, in recognition of the contribution of the blind and partially sighted towards South Africa’s social justice and development agenda.

The gala dinner which is set to be an annual event will raise funds to assist all the 22 special public schools for the blind and partially sighted in South Africa with adaptive and assistive learning devices, library resources and other amenities desperately needed by learners in these schools whose plight for a conducive learning environment is still largely unattended and/or insufficiently catered for in the mainstream public education system.
