In December, SANCB students and staff attended a dialogue on domestic violence, which placed special emphasis on how domestic violence affects persons with visual impairments.

Hosted by SANCB and Optima College in partnership with the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, the dialogue reminded the audience that their disability did not mean that should be abused.

Guest speaker Advocate Mulalo Netshisaulu encouraged victims to approach the courts or police for help, rather than approach their abusers directly.

South Africa does not know how many women are in danger of dying at the hands of their partners because women fear speaking out about abuse, Netshisaulu said.
